Balsamroot Butte

This painting was insisted by a view I saw while hiking the Rowena Crest Trail in Oregon. Late spring, wildflowers decorate the paths along the Columbia River Gorge. Even though I’d lived here for a couple decades, I’d never caught their blooms except recently on this hike. Sprinkled between the lavender patches of lupine, the balsamroot lit the fields with sunshine.
