This still life painted from life was inspired by the vintage hammer that my husband's grandfather owned. He was a fine carpenter who lovingly built many pieces of furniture we have in our home to this day. I had never seen such a hammer and I felt it was interesting to juxtapose it to a modern, plastic screwdriver. The light passing through the clear handle was also an area of intrigue.
